Rock Valley's Trojans swept both games from the West Lyon Wildcats on Thursday at Hock Valley. Eighth grade won 25 to 16 with Frank McGill scoring nine and Chuck Witty adding eight. Seventh grade rallied 21 to 19 as Danny Kersbergen LeRoy Vink and Harlan Groeneweg each had six.
The Rockets defeated Boyden Hull 88 to 69 on Tuesday night at Rock Valley. Ron Kuhnmin led with 32 points, joined by Ron Postma with 18 and Paul Popper with 17. Junior varsity won 53 42, Freshman fell to Boyden Hull 34 30.
Rock Valley loses third straight to Sioux Center 37 16 at Hull Community Building. Turnovers plagued the Rockets in the second half as Ron Kaufman led with 14 rebounds and 14 points. Sioux Center’s junior varsity beat Rock Valley 50 40 35 with Randy Scher top scoring and Doug Kaufman adding seven boards.
The University of South Dakota will offer an Art course in Sioux Center beginning Tuesday Jan. 19 at 7:00 pm. Interested residents should attend the first meeting Tuesday Jan. 19 in the Home Economics room on the second floor of the high school building.

Rotarians heard Harald Park hill a development researcher of the Public Service company discuss the recent Iowa Industrial Revenue Bond act for municipal support of industrial projects. Mr Markhill attended as a guest of Tom McGi who hosted the event exploring potential industrial firm loyalties within an eight mile radius.
Mr and Mrs Henry Kruid of Hudson have bought the Paul Niel machine shop. In the afternoon free coffee and donuts will be served to attendees. The Hook Valley Saddle Club schedules a Friday January 16 meeting at 7 30 pm at the VFW hall with annual officer elections and family entertainment.
The council met January 1 at the Al Porter home to discuss adult driving training, the relocation of an antique car collection, Rock Valley improvements, the Valley Manor project, and a Soli course. A clinic extension and school bond for February were noted to keep the high school within the community, with future reports due February 9 at Vince McNamara’s.

A group of about 166 elders and deacons from West Sioux Classis Reformed churches began a five week leadership course Monday at First Reformed Church in Rock. Opening session speakers were Rev. J. Boogerd of Sioux Falls Rev Kolenbrandher of Inwood and Rev H Sehoon of Boyden. Four more Monday meetings were scheduled, says Rev Henry Poppen the local pastor.

Miss Rosalind Rinker, noted author of Prayer Conversing with God, conducts a prayer workshop for the Reformed churches of Northwest Java January 17 to 19. About 59 churches participate. youth meet at First Reformed Church Boyden. delegations gather at Hull for briefings and at First and American Reformed churches in Hull for the main workshop.
Rock Valley wrestlers lost to Tyndall 38 10 at the home gym on Saturday January 9. Rodney Vink and Craig Van der Velde pinned opponents to help reach the 10 point deficit before the match began for the 103 and 120 pound classes. Rocket Junior Variety won 13 5. Individual scoring included Grossenberg Hamann and Landegent with decisions and pins by Witte and Rutgers.
A Sioux County fundraising note from H Rozebrom, chairman, recounts 24 years of door to door canvas for polio and hospital bills, noting a shrinking surplus since 1958 and higher costs after adding birth defects. The 1964 share reached about $3000 with expenses over $8000, urging continued contributions.
Education officials announce adult classes start Tuesday January 19 with openings at 7 30 and six sessions planned. A registration fee of 6.00 will be charged for each class.
Funeral services were held for Henry Koedam at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sioux Center with Rev Hageman officiating. Burial followed in Sioux Center Cemetery. Koedam, 66, died after a brief illness at Sioux Center Community Hospital. He was born October 17, 1898 in Sioux Center and married Gertie Van Ginkel in 1923.
