Adult Ed Classes Start January 24 for 1965 winter term

The Advisory Council for adult education met January 6 to plan a 10 week winter term beginning January 24. A $6.00 registration fee plus book costs, instructor pay of $6.00 per session, and a 10 registrant minimum apply. Courses include knitting, typing, golf, agricultural mechanics, general shop, and machine heading improvement. Registration blanks are in this issue.

Iowa Public Service Company with CMAPP and Canada plans a centralized MAP Center in Minneapolis to coordinate 24 hour operations among member systems. Increasing Yields To Be Discussed

The Slows County Extension Service and Iowa State University sponsor a seven day corn and soybean production school to be held at Sioux Center City Hall on Tuesday January 17 and Tuesday January 24 from 9 30 to 3 31. Specialists from Iowa State University and the local Extension Staff will present latest information on producing these crops. The meeting is open to everyone and there is no attendance charge.

Charlene Fusselian is hired as English and reading teacher for grades 9 and 11 at Rock Valley Community School Nebraska. She is a Wayne State College graduate, class of December 1966, replacing Mrs Poppen who resigned. Duties begin January 18.

Enrolled 24 in Voe Welding Class at Northwest Iowa Vocational School

Twenty four students are enrolled in two evening welding classes started January 4 at Sheldon’s Northwest Iowa Vocational School. Each class, limited to twelve men, meets on Tuesdays or Thursdays for fifteen three hour sessions. Instructors cover electric and oxy acetylene welding. Readable list includes names such as Earl Storm, Glenn Damman, Donald Massa, James Kreber, Larry O’Conner, Wayne Rossman, Janet Van Roskel, and Helen Van Heuvelen among others. First Reformed Church of Beaver Grows in South Denver

The Rev. Poppen begins as associate pastor at the First Reformed Church of Beaver in South Denver. The church, with 260 families, expanded its sanctuary and educational wing by 1963 and enlarged the consistory and Sunday School, with youth fellowship up over 40 percent. The Poppen family will reside at 1650 5 Washington St until a new parsonage is ready in spring.
