In Rock Township Lion county Northwest town Rock Valley area, District No. 3 earns Superior bronze plate. Miss Rene Kessler teaches as the school advances from standard to superior grade with a well-rendered Christmas program. State Rural Schools Inspector Jessie Parker delivers the plate amid attendance by county Superintendent and patrons. The region already houses four Superior rural schools in Clinton, Kossuth, Jasper, Muscatine counties. Lyon county joins them, about 15 miles northeast of Rock Valley.

Surprised Grand 40th Wedding Anniversary Observed
Relatives and friends surprised Mr and Mrs A Trebon on Tuesday evening for their fortieth wedding anniversary. They were escorted to Mrs Lawrence Richter's home southwest of Rock Valley where guests gathered. The group enjoyed playing 500, refreshments, and a pleasant evening. The Trebons are longtime Rock Valley residents with many friends hoping for many more years of happy marriage.

Young fan killed by circle saw in Rock Valley tragedy
Beit Dolestager, a young helper, died Monday afternoon while assisting with a circle saw on the George Middle place in Rock Valley. The saw threw the frame and severed his left arm, fatally injuring him. Coroner Van Nimwegen said no inquest was needed. He leaves his father J Dolestager and four brothers Cornelius Gerrit Nick and Arié. Funeral at First Reformed Church Rock Valley at 9 am Thursday, burial in Leota.

Amos Roethler vs farmer Denner concerns an accident while Denner struck a post with a sledge hammer, Roethler's two fingers injured and infection followed. Roethler awarded 970.83 after contributory negligence finding. Denner plans appeal to the Iowa Supreme Court.

Twenty Hogs Stolen From Hudson Area Farm
Twenty hogs weighing about 300 pounds each were stolen from Hi Ron Woods farm near Hudson last week. Two parties suspected: one took gates from another farm, the other selected twenty top hogs and drove them half a mile to a chute and into a truck. Theft reported to Litty and Sioux Falls. some Woods men traveled to Dell Rapids. The hogs value about $480 at market. a $100 reward offered for apprehension.

Wicklés cucumbers shipped in eight car loads
The Ast. cat. of Wicklés to be shipped from Bloomfield to St. Louis last week. There were 700 bushels loaded into four special cars. Harvest last fall yielded cucumbers pickled in brine vats each holding 100 bushels, totaling eight car loads. Southeastern Town has century of cucumber crops turning a profit.
