Students report making a post office in their week and a valentines theme. The post master sold amps for valentines and students learned about money. Anema had a birthday last week and a Valentines Movie Night was held.
A list of students and happenings from a reading class includes May Sieck celebrating her tenth birthday and several names such as Mary Frances McGill Fred DeJong Dona d Bonthuis Gertrude Van Gin eels John Harmelink Betty Lou Ben DeVrtes. The record notes high scores and perfect papers among the group with references to Vander Borea Vander Linden Van Dyke and Vander Berg among others.
Joyce Davisson Frances Doherty Nellie Garritson Elma Qosten John Bannan Ka Vander Bosch Wilma Van Ginkel Bertha Ver Wey Abraham Brirs Richard DeVries and Gerbie Gerritson attended a Monday afternoon Valentine party. Zelphia Beckley and Wilma Van Ginkel organized the entertainment.
On Thursday the sixth grade made valentines and a cold mood hangs over the scene. Wednesday ElDora Kersberg en and Irene Young prepared the valentine box with five perfect paper epalling. Names listed include Billie Rozeboom Rose Elizabeth Byker Beevan and June Vander Kooi. Friday self-testing drill No 9 was taken with students Rie Vande Velde Paul Beumer Ferner Gunvink and Joan Harmelink earning stars. Student reporter Donald Jacobs contributed.
Sevent ht h and Eighth Grades list 100 percent winners Delores Achatz Angeline Dee Any Potts Bob Young Vira Beumer Eleanor Heims Betty Aurit Greta Verdoorn. Valentine party held with a Voice of the People program. Next week winner to be announced. High school orchestra girls glee club and mixed chorus busy. upcoming week to be especially active. Junior band formed with new instruments. German band organized with tuba trombone cornet and clarinets. Last Friday band played before assembly. this week orchestra performs. Additional music room equipment includes an electric phonograph and two new band instruments.
Senior program Friday featured talks by Norman Dearborn on War and Anna De Bruin on Abraham Lincoln with band selections under Mr Brown. Rock Valley basketball split a doubleheader at Doon 24 15 and 10 4, with Ray Potts scoring 3 field goals and 2 free throws. Mrs Wesselink celebrated a birthday with a family gathering and a large supper.
A supply of two newly published bulletins detailing the 1937 Iowa Cory Fiend yield test has arrived for free distribution. The reports cover yield, resistance, moisture content, dropped kernels, and damaged kernels for the best of 1331 hybrids and open pollinated corn entries. Hybrids show a lead over open pollinated types, especially in southwestern districts, but some hybrids perform poorly. Buyers are advised to rely on well tested hybrids.
In Washington township both groups met and shared food during a women's meeting, with attendees finding daytime sessions preferable to winter evenings. The District Court clerk notes the date February 6, 1935, with official seal and signatures from LT. McGill, attorney.
Notice to all concerned to appear at the Court House in Orange City Sioux County Iowa on the third Tuesday of March 1938 at 10 oclock AM to attend the probate of an instrument claimed to be the last will of Robert Heimstra deceased Sioux County Iowa. Respondents must show cause why the will should not be admitted to probate.
John Harmelink and his brother in law George Zwanenburg of Sioux Falls have purchased a garage in Fairview South Dakota. Zwanenburg has moved to the new location and Harmelink plans to move his family there soon.
Garfield Pinto Farm Bureau members met at the Geo Baldwin home last Friday to discuss farm tax and plans. HH. S. described obtaining low cost trees from the Forestry Dept Iowa State College for woodlot expansion under the Clark-M Act and noted a county woodlot vacom school to be held.
