The Rebekah Lodge met in their lodge hall with most members attending. Plans were made for the Washington Program and party on the evening of the twenty second. A delicious supper was served by Mrs. E. F. Suter. A card party at St Mary’s church basement Monday night was successful with nearly forty tables in use.
Miss Johann of Plato Towns was in the area Friday with Arie Basco and Will Ver Molen. Mr Klomp transported a large load of oats and barley to AG. Frank Ver Mulen, son of Ver Mulmen, visited Winifred SD. Crops failed in parts of Dakota last season. Hans Moeller and son Harold visited F C Dierks. A wheel repair at Doon was noted alongside Valley hauling activities.
Mrs. S A Mitchell visited relatives at Rock Rapids while Esther Schlund returned from Mobile Alabama. Local gatherings feature Ladies Aid meeting in church rooms with bridge and lunch, J D Berrier winning the evening, a Valentine bridge party at Mrs Van nwegell, Eva Trebon taking high score, and a Wa Tai Ye Club gathering with luncheon and games.
Twenty nine women met with Miss Armene Wilson on February 1 at the home of Mrs. Albert Rehder for their fourth year home management class. The discussion covered proper equipment, work methods, and reducing drudgery, noting personal appearance affects efficiency. The next meeting on Home Sanitation will be held at Mrs. H Woods’s home.
The Luncheon Club schedules a February 18 gathering at St Mary’s church basement 6 45 PM with a dinner at 8 25 PM served by C D of A L Ladies. Hon T B Moen of Inwood will speak, L L Long of Parker outlines Parker Luncheon Club, and an orchestra and male quartet perform. 50 cents per plate. Members invite farmers and local businessmen to register.
A garage and the adjacent Re bm harness and shoe store at Hulls were destroyed by fire. The blaze began in the garage and spread to the store, with several cars inside. Total losses around 40,000 dollars, water shortage hampered crews, and Sioux Center firefighters assisted Hulls' department.

The Rock Valley Chapter announces its annual Red Cross meeting will be held Tuesday evening February 16 at 7 30 o clock in the State Bank.
John van Laar was born November 2 1901 in the Netherlands and came to the U S with his family in 1907. He lived in Grand Rapids Rock Valley and Holland Michigan while pursuing ministry studies at Calvin College and Seminary. He died February 2 1932 after illness and was survived by his parents and siblings. His funeral was held February 5 in Grand Rapids.
Mrs. Delia M Murphy a former Rock Valley resident died at her San Diego home on January 20 at age seventy seven. She leaves three daughters and one son Mrs C B Mauphin and Mrs Donag Wright of San Diego Mrs P O Mimnaugh of Lewistown Montana and James Murphy of Hancock Minnesota and a sister Mrs Catherine Hanlon of San Diego.
Mayor W A Lewis of Spencer Iowa issues a proclamation to ban the phrase low mood promising a fine of one dollar for each use. Police instructed to collect the penalty from anyone heard uttering the term as part of a civic push to end mental despondency in Clay County.
Word spreads of an efficient plan to provide work for the unemployed and needy in Pella Iowa. Louis De Bruyn donates standing timber on his farm and able bodied men are employed to fell trees and cut stove lengths. The wood is hauled to the city woodpile for distribution to needy families with foreman James Veenman supervising. Welfare league funds pay for labor.
The Christian Reformed Church announces February 14 1932 events at 9 30 and 2 00 PM with Holland service in the evening and society gatherings. A cantata will be performed by the choir and a meeting invites all Christians qualified to vote to support more active Christianity in civil life.
A church notices a Shinday or Sunday service on February 14 with a German language divine service at 11 00. The 10 00 morning service is listed as well. Officials or organizers are not clearly named beyond Peace Lutheran Chireh.
