Mr and Mrs Joe Peters marked their silver wedding on February 5 1930 at their Hull home with relatives and friends. A noon feast and an afternoon program at the MM E church followed by supper and a Christian celebration by the Ladies Aid Society capped the day. Mr Peters born in Germany long migratory history with Sioux Center Corsica Sheldon Rock Valley now in business here Mrs Peters from Sioux Center born in the Netherlands. four children remain at home with one deceased, as many guests testified to their lasting blessings.

Thirty one teachers wrote exams for regular county certificates and ten From the Orange City Junior College attempted the tests. Sub county declamatory contests awarded firsts to Palis, Boyden, Sioux Center, Orange City, Haspers, and Rock Valley. A final county contest date remains to be set next week. County Supt Tye attended a basketball conference at Mallard on Feb 1. About thirty coaches and superintendents from Northwest Iowa attended. Sioux County schools plan more photos for state papers, and a meeting about building new schools is set for Feb 7. Over 400 eighth graders take the regular grade exams this week with a class of 50-60 hoped for graduation next summer. J Henry Visser of Orange City will join the National High School Orchestra in Chicago March 22-27, a significant honor for the school. Lincoln and Washington birthdays are noted for student activities and posters to emphasize these figures. A standard school inspector is expected to visit as roads permit, prompting efforts to keep schools current. The County Board of Education will meet Feb 1 to discuss business with Tye.

Fire damages farm home near Rock Valley
The Greiner Bros. saved Peter Baverhals’ farm home nine miles south and two miles west of Rock Valley after a basement fire started by a child. Snow blocked Hawarden’s response, delaying initial aid, but Greiners arrived in about fourteen minutes and extinguished the blaze. Mr. Baverhals paid them $100 in gratitude.
