County undecided on Sioux Plymouth mental health project

Plains Area Mental Health Center seeks a 50 000 population base for Iowa authority recognition. Sioux County and Plymouth County consider joining. Sioux would pay 11 000 and receive a psychologist and psychiatrist services if they approve. Decision delayed to July 1973.

New Corn Leaf Blight Observed in Gem County

Plant disease specialists in Gem Basin report a new corn leaf blight after harvest. Iowa State University pathologist C A Martinson says the fungus resembles Helminthosporium maydis race T but lesions are darker. Severity first noted in 1972 seed inbreds, with trials on commercial hybrids showing limited impact.
