Senior Silhouette Gerrie Earns Spotlight In RVHS
Gerrie, a tall blue eyed senior from RVHS, is praised as a long time FHA member and Public Relations Officer. She starred in last year’s Play Cheaper by the Dozen, won a typing award, and plans to major in special education after graduation.

Speech class prepares six minute Voice of Democracy entries
Nine students in a speech class write and edit speeches in September, submitted to the local VFW for judging on December 5. Char Ten Clay wins first, Melinda Vander Schaaf second, Verlyn Bolks third. prizes include 15 dollars and top awards. Char Ten Clay advances toward state and national levels with potential scholarships at nationals. Participants include Gale Van Berkum, Gary Schapel, Karen Wynna, Karen Hauser, Cam Arends, Dan Hoogendoorn, and Miss Williamson’s classmate.

Brian Van Der Vliet son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Van Der Vliet of Rock Valley will graduate from RVHS after four years of high school. He played basketball all four years and earned varsity letters as a junior and senior. He belongs to the Jetterman club and is active in EFA. He received a four year scholarship for his hard work and served as sophomore class vice president and senior class president. He has been his class student council representative for two years. After graduation he will attend Sheldon vocational school. best wishes are extended.

Christmas Event at RVHS Raises Funds for Korean Orphan Fund
An afternoon of thrills and chills at RVHS on Friday December 21 featured a door collection for the Korean Orphan Fund. Contributions totaled to see which class gave the most, aiming to support a Korean child named Chang Mi Hyun. The program included a 12:45 showing of Black Sabbath and finished with a 2:30 dismissal amid cheers.
