The School Board and wives hosted guests Friday with refreshments. Camp Fire Girls met at the Schemmer home with mature talks and honor beads awarded to several members. A treasure chest at Schemmer Hardware sells 10c bits, with a draw Saturday at 8 pm. Ladies Aid, Traveling Baskets, Rebekah Lodge, Priscilla Guild, and St Mary’s Church activities are reported with gatherings, lunches, and prizes.

Chariton Iowa resident Allender reports two ducks wandered from a coop to the city market area on Thanksgiving morning. A neighbor networked updates as the ducks, guided by instinct, were tracked through the business district and captured before markets reopened. Their owners planned to notify neighbors of the birds’ missing status and eventual return.

The city of LeMars paid about ten thousand dollars due to prompt bill payments. Ten years earlier a construction project used municipal bonds, and property owners along the paving faced assessments. Tragic Truck Crash Takes Young Peter Brandsma
Peter Brandsma, 14, a Rock Valley Bakery helper and Rock Valley Band member, died after a truck skidded on a slippery road near the seven mile corner. Driver Albert Kooi survived. Peter may have jumped as the vehicle tipped. Funeral services were held at First Reformed Church Rock Valley and at St Mary’s Rock Valley with numerous relatives and friends present.

Mrs Catherine Rielly Rites Held in Rock Valley
Mrs Catherine Rielly died at her Rock Valley home after a brief illness born in Belmullet Ireland December 14 1855 came to America in 1880 lived in Richmond Wisconsin before moving to the Rock Valley area in 1892 and 1918 she was mother of thirteen children six surviving including Mrs P Tuyman Patrick John William Mary and others with three preceded her in death Mrs Rielly was highly respected and beloved by family and neighbors and her passing leaves a large family to mourn her loss.
