Death of Claude Lemon Hovers Over Rock Valley Family
Rock Valley relatives mourn Claude Lemon who died last Thursday morning in a Hamilton Ohio hospital after a second appendicitis operation. He lived in Rock Valley about sixteen years ago and is survived by his wife Ruth and two children. Funeral services were held Monday in Holland Michigan, former home of the deceased, with Mrs Jacobs and Miss Ethel Jacobs en route to Rock Valley and due to arrive Thursday.

Matt Walpole moved into a new house near the creamery with the help of local neighbors. W G Bryant and family from Hartley visited Mrs Bryant’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Minard, over Sunday. Mrs. F E Corwin returned from a several weeks visit in Cundor New York. Melvin Buck, a Sioux Falls business college student, spent Thanksgiving at home before resuming studies. Kersbergen moved into the vacated Walpole house. Pomeroy Dr L L Norris returned home after visiting relatives in Rock Valley. Fred De May conducted a fur sale Friday and Saturday though prices lagged. Thanksgiving services at the Presbyterian church were led by Rev P F Travis with modest attendance. Mrs Clyde Martin hosted a sister visiting from Sioux City. WW Setmonsma and Harley Buck shipped six carloads of sheep to Chicago, with both men along for the trip.

Dr. Charles R. Keyes reported seven white-winged crosbills on the Cornell college campus marking the first sighting in twenty two years and noting their rarity this far south. Nearby at Waverly a flock of black loons appeared in the Cedar River and a large rock of ring-neck snines was seen by the dam, the first in years.
