Prohibition costs and ledger notes from Rock Valley council
The note discusses repeal of the 18th Amendment with projected losses and potential tax gains, cites a looming reestablishment of distillers and brewers, and mentions a 1929 Rock Valley council special meeting approving sidewalks on Tripp Avenue and related assessments, including a $25 for overtime pay and a 60 day completion target.
Ordinance votes and adjournment mark town council meeting
Absent and Yes votes define the approvals as the council passes Ordinance No. 80 and No. 81 on first readings and dispenses with further readings. Mayor declares each motion carried as proceedings adjourn. A memorial service for Henry O. Wallace is announced for October 18 in Ames during the fourth annual conference of the American Communist Life action.
