A seven passenger Elks party returning from a sod session collided with a telegraph pole on a steep Manitou Hill in Colorado Springs. Four men died W H Ralston H Winnal John Grey Britton L Graves and three injured James English George Buckley F H Ward A W Markscheffel who drove the car lost control causing the high speed plunge and pole impact. The machine built for three passengers hurled the occupants across the street and down the hill.

Daniel Tubbs, a 28 Moline molder, was found at 5 50 AM lying about 20 feet west of Third Street crossing near the Burlington line.
