The U.S. Department of Agriculture September crop report pegs corn condition at 70.2 percent of normal and oats at 64.5 percent at harvest. Indicated corn yield about 2 bushels per acre, oats 31.9 bushels, with other staples like barley, wheat, and potatoes also cited.
Friends of Colonel John Jacob Astor say a clergyman has been found to perform the ceremony and the marriage to Miss Force will occur shortly. The ceremony is expected in Connecticut but license records in that state have not yet appeared.

Reports from Chicago on September 8 say as many as 35 000 shopmen of the Illinois Central could strike over unions recognition. Notices alleged to instruct walkouts were circulated to local bodies in advance, awaiting telegram approval from federated labor officers. Labor chiefs in Chicago were preparing for a key executive committee meeting.
Chicago report says Mrs. Harriet B. Coney spent a tearful night in custody before arraignment. The shooting involved Robert Bruce Watson a noted clubman architect and politician. Hearing continued amid police questions and hospital transfer rumors about Watson.

Four people were seriously injured when a wagon collided with a trolley car in Chicago. Victims include Dr. J. G. Guernsey aged 48 from Olin Iowa and his two children Jasper eight and Walter twelve, plus Patrolman R L Stevens with internal injuries and a fractured shoulder.
New York report states Mrs. Edward Hart known as Irene Hart was murdered. The bullet ridden body found in her kitchen yesterday. her husband is detained as a suspicious person. Autopsy proves death intentional, not self-inflicted.
The Hotel LaSalle meeting to organize Progressive Democracy under William R. Hearst drew protests against Hearst and cheers for Mayor Carter Harrison. Downstate rebels contested Hearst tied leadership and a 25 district organization committee was named with Harrison controlling Cook County and James M. Gray organizing the rest. Harrison insisted the gathering served no single person or faction and was the first step in a broader effort.
Mrs. Ella Wilson mayor of Hunnewell Kansas plans to appoint women to all key offices and run the town with female officials. She traveled to Kansas City to meet C. W. Trickett the governor’s appointee and says she may summon militia to enforce orders if the council resists.
