Fatally Exhausted Incident in Peoria Mystery Slough

Mrs. George Kean was found dead near Lawnrider after a buggy sank in a slough caused by a washed-out culvert. A neighbor, Mrs. Jackson, attempted to free the horse and buggy but grew exhausted in heavy rains. Mrs. Jackson, longtime Peoria resident, faced the tragedy amid a rural county community.

Fire damages corn warehouse and mills in Arcula region

Fire destroyed broom corn valued at 15000 at Duncan Tarbox warehouse, with ten box cars and a mill suffering losses. Insurance on the broom corn was 10000. total loss estimated at 25000. Also reports census figures for Davenport Iowa and Sioux City Iowa showing population shifts.

Panic at Chicago GA R excursion ticket office injures twenty

A crowd at Clark street in Chicago led to a panic as veterans and others rushed for return coupons for a G. A. R. encampment trip. Twenty were injured including many old soldiers, women fainted, and children were bruised as doors closed and crowds pressed outside. The panic began with a fainting person.

Trouble in Kentucky leads to more feared clashes

London Kentucky Sept 1 Scott Stanley was tried and acquitted by Judge Stanberry. As he left the courtroom he was attacked by Grant Hamilton John Peters and Atom Black and stabbed in the back with likely fatal injuries. All three assailants are under arrest and further trouble is feared.
