Train Derailment Near Augusta Amazingly Few Injuries

The Chicago Duluth limited on the Chicago & Northwestern derailed near Augusta Wisconsin after a rail removal suspected of malicious intent. The train traveling 40 mph turned its engine and cars on their sides but only a few passengers and trainmen were injured, none seriously. Wife Says Letters Forged in Hains Case

Mrs Claudia Hains claims letters said to be written to her husband Captain Peter C Hains are partly forged. Her counsel released a statement noting the Dear Billy letter appears to be a fabrication.

Panic in Neave Building Fire Scorches Women on Ledges

In Cincinnati on October 29 a blaze on the sixth floor of the Neave building on Fourth and Race drove many women to crouch on high ledges. Firemen fought the flames as hoses burst, several women leaped or were injured, and one firefighter was hurt in a fall.
