Salvation Army Hotel Fire in St Louis Kills Four
The Lighthouse hotel on Ninth and Market in St Louis housed about 500 men when a fire early today destroyed the Salvation Army lodging. Four men died, around 35 injured from burns and smoke. Fire started in a closet near an old elevator shaft, forcing many to jump or be rescued by nets as flames spread quickly. The blaze caused extensive damage estimated at 2500 dollars. investigators have not yet determined the cause.
