The inventor a Milwaukee man silent for now says the battery powers 40 cells in about thirty pounds for 400 to 500 miles and costs under 2 cents per kilowatt. A standard 18 pound cell would store 1000 ampere hours with recharging, while the new unit weighs less and recharges in minutes by adding water to crystalline chemicals.
Grand jury charges Charles G. Rutledge cashier of Ayer’s National Bank and J A Obermeyer prominent druggist and board of education members with unlawful school contracts. Rutledge allegedly allowed his insurance firm to insure school property while Obermeyer sold paints disinfectants and other items via bids. Separate indictments accuse J W Parrish and Charles Tinsley of extortion against candidates in a recent campaign.
Claude Rumsey, held in Marshall Missouri, confessed his real name and linked himself to robberies on the eastbound Alton Burlington train near Glasgow on November 27 and the Rock Island Overland Limited near the same point on November 8. He previously claimed his brother committed the Rock Island robbery and said he has a Chicago background with two brothers and a sister. He declined to provide his exact address and noted a prior term at Fort Leavenworth military prison.
