In Hamm Westphalia Germany a fire damp explosion at Radbod mine trapped 400 workers. By afternoon 45 bodies were recovered and 300 men remained underground with no hope of survival. Emsal notes say 27 bodies surfaced early and 70 more were later brought out with many injured.
Solomon Reilly, a colored boy about 10 years old and small for his age, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Mrs. Wilbur Torrence near Savannah. Reilly had been employed by Mrs. Torrence, was discharged, then retrieved a shotgun the next day and killed her saying she had no right to fire him.
Nashville reports ex-sheriff John D. Sharpe arrested on murder and aiding and abetting charges connected to Senator Carmack’s killing. Witnesses say Sharpe seen with the Coopers before the crime. Grand jury hears testimonies as Robin Cooper’s case unfolds. young Cooper remains in danger per attending doctor Eye.
Pekin reports the emperor of China is very ill and sinking with no Western medical attendance. In Treves, Grand Duke William Alexander of Luxembourg is rapidly sinking and his chambers plan to ask his wife to permanently assume the regency she briefly held since last April.

From Rochester New York November 12 three cars of the eastbound Twentieth Century Limited were derailed near the city as a broken rail caused the crash. Six cars formed the train with three derailed and turned on their sides. Passengers were thrown from berths but no serious injuries. Many suffered bruises while others climbed through windows to escape. A wrecking crew cleared the line and the damaged cars were moved.
A powerful explosion in the glazing room at Ex celsior Powder company in Dodson south of Kansas City wrecked part of the plant and overturned a Kansas City Southern passenger train. One powder employee was killed and 35 people injured, most riders on the train with only minor damage to the cars. Mrs J B McDonough of Fort Scott is among the injured.
Memphis news reports Mrs. E A Bonds went to police and confessed to shooting S P Craig over alleged improper proposals. Investigators confirmed a fatal bullet wound. Also noted are navy desertion trial of Charles J Magness in Philadelphia and Wyoming subzero temperatures with Calgary at 2 below.
Washington November 12 The White House issued an official statement stressing the dinner for labor leaders is not official and refusing to discuss the omission of Gompers O Connell Morrison and Lennon from the guest list. The note explains the president invited a mix of government and non government figures to seek views on labor issues. Knights of Labor call for law authorizing notice before injunctions in labor disputes.
Sofia November 12 The national assembly hosted a republican demonstration during the address in reply to the royal message. The cabinet failed to control its supporters and amid cries of treason several government members attacked Emperor Feclin. The crown’s growing influence was denounced as dangerous to liberties and ministers were warned the nation will not endure monarchical ambitions.

President elect Taft in Hot Springs is joined by Vice President elect Sherman and prominent lawmakers including William J. Ward a New York national committeeman Representative Burton from Cleveland Senators Bourne Burkett and Scott. In Cleveland federal judge Paylor appoints Warren Bicknell and Frank A. Scott receivers for the Municipal Traction Company.
Copenhagen reports belief body of Professor Andree, Arctic balloon explorer, has been found on Labrador coast. Captain Chalker of the Pelops allegedly discovered a cross bearing the name Andree, a body, and a box of documents. The 1897 expedition with Strindberg and Fraenkel vanished after leaving Spitsbergen.
Postmaster General Meyer reports the postal deficit for the year ending June 20 at 16.91 million dollars. Receipts totaled 191.47 million, up 7.89 million from the prior year, while expenditures reached 208.3 million. Meyer urges Congress to consider a local parcels post for rural routes to cut the deficit.
Denver reports that national officers of the American Federation of Labor with several union chiefs and about seven delegates visit the International Typographical Union at the Union Printers' Home in Colorado Springs. They were hosted with a barbecue and speeches despite a heavy snow storm. sessions were to resume in Denver.
