Rock Island Buys Mexican Central to Link El Paso Route

El Paso reports indicate Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific has acquired the Mexican Central railroad. A connecting line from Brownwood to El Paso will replace the El Paso and Southwestern tracks for entry, forming a major addition valued as a key Rock Island asset. The Mexican Central runs 1,224 miles with branches totaling 3,154 miles, owning Tampico Harbor and fleet assets, with earnings per mile around 8,272 and expenses per mile about 5,578 in 1904 05, and a 210,710 deficit in the period.
