Chaos erupts in several wards as charges of illegal voting rise. Police issue riot call. fifty in Eighth ward held over bogus receipts and three polling places shut temporarily. Malony, Fifth ward harbormaster, jailed on conspiracy warrant then bailed. Votes surpass prior election totals by noon.
New York reports heavy turnout with arrests for registration issues and widespread clerical errors. Odds favor McClellan for mayor and Jerome for district attorney while Hearst and Ivins face opposition. Polls close at 5 p.m. with more than 67 registrations scrutinized.

Milton Franklin Andrews, sought for a Colorado Springs murder, shot and killed his female companion Nalda Olivia in San Francisco and then killed himself. He had been wanted for a savage assault on William Ellis at Berkeley. Police traced the couple and, as they prepared to enter a house, Andrews killed Olivia and took his own life.
William Hier a Bishop Hill young man died Sunday night at his home after an attempted suicide earlier in the day hindered by his family due to ill health. He succumbed to the illness that caused his despair. In a separate note Pittsburg reports eighty thousand dollars in Santa Fe Central railroad bonds missing from the Enterprise National Bank where T Lee Clark served as treasurer.
Charles Neiswander a Geneseo native known as a bogus gas man and plumber was sentenced to four years after being found guilty of burglarizing Max Kohn's Davenport home and stealing diamonds worth 500. His career spanned several states as he posed as a plumber to gain entry and steal valuables.
Chicago attorney Adolph Moses a prominent bar member and former state bar president died in Asheville North Carolina where he had gone to tend to his ailing son. Also Henry Blossom offers 15500 for the Tom Sawyer cave property near Hannibal Missouri with Hal lett Bishop coordinating. President Roosevelt departed Jersey City en route to Washington from Oyster Bay.

Five towns tally Bartlett 420 Guild 622 and Avon flips from Democratic plurality 124 to 4 GOP gain of 120 votes. Whitney carries lieutenant governor race by one vote.
Clarence Darrow resigns as special counsel for Chicago on street railway affairs. He tells Mayor Dunne he will not continue in city service, arguing municipal ownership cannot be achieved before the spring election.
Wallace R. Struble, self described preacher and anti smoking lecturer, appeared in Justice Johnson's court for a peace bond information linked to the attempted United Christian party reorganization in Rock Island. The case was continued to 4 o clock, based on a sworn complaint by W R Benkert of Davenport alleging Struble threatened to kill him.
In Marengo Iowa on November 7 defense lawyers moved to bar Carroll Wright from prosecuting the case against Eric Von Kutzleben the accused train wreck and murder suspect at Homestead They argued Wright would defend the railroad in damage suits and contend the confession was coerced by fear and not tied to the wreck Experts testified Kutzleben’s mind was unsound at the time and he was not near the mail car after the incident
Cincinnati dispatch reports the U S circuit court of appeals refused a new trial for Cassie L Chadwick today. If the U S Supreme Court denies a rehearing she faces one year in the Ohio penitentiary for conspiring to defraud under the national banking law tied to the Citizens National Bank wreck in Oberlin Ohio.
Sir George Williams, founder and long-time leader of the YMCA in London, died aged about 84. Born in 1821, he started the society in 1844 while earning 750 pounds yearly, donating 250 pounds to its support and living frugally. He was knighted by Queen Victoria in 1894 as the movement expanded worldwide with thousands of branches and hundreds of thousands of members.
