Washington dispatch from Manila states three officers and 56 men with 46 rifles surrendered unconditionally at Cuysto yesterday. Today three officers and 46 men with 65 rifles surrendered unconditionally at Tarlac. The war department calls the surrenders very encouraging.
In Chicago on May 28 the Methodists conference heard the temperance committee arraign McKinley’s stance on Griggs’ view of the anti canteen law. After a brief debate the minority report excluding the president paragraph was adopted. The amusement issue was ruled not before the conference and no further action is expected.
