Chicago reports a tenth body unearthed at the Guinness farm with diggings resumed after rain. authorities consider the 1851 1873 ownership by Dr B R Car and suspect a private burying ground.
Ann Arbor reports May 8 that fifteen University of Michigan students face rioting charges linked to the March 16 theater outbreak. Authorities say the disturbance disrupted performances and caused property concerns on campus.
The crew of 72 aboard the German ship Rickmers were landed safely by life savers at Zach's inlet and nearby stations after a night of heavy seas. The wind calmed by morning and none reported lasting harm. The ship, a four masted steel bark built in 1889, ran aground while bound from New York to Rangoon with crude oil cargo and was partially broken up by waves.
At the Waldorf Astoria 250 guests from the Illinois society in New York held a burlesque event outslinging presidential candidates from both parties. They voted for a dark horse whose identity remained anonymous, turning the banquet into playful theater modeled after the Gridiron club.
William Montgomery alias Billy, cashier at Allegheny National bank, admits taking a large sum from the bank and says he has not a cent left. In Minden Nebraska May Pearl Taylor who was assaulted by her brother in law Ben Taylor died this morning. Ben Taylor escaped posses and there is no trace of his whereabouts. Croker's Horse Wins Stake Rhodora takes 1000 Guinea stake at New Market in London.
Berlin reports Prince Philip Zaf Ewenberg was placed under actual arrest after testimony by two men at the prince bedside. The charge of perjury stems from events 25 years ago. He was moved by car to a charity hospital for further investigation.

The main clash centered on Panama canal salaries with a 25 percent cap proposed but defeated 10 to 101. Other discussion touched on court printing and a forestry provision in the agricultural bill.
In dense fog on May 8 the British steamer Matiana was struck by a Hamburg-American liner about 20 miles south of Portland, England. Matiana returned with a broken stern and other damage while the Hamburg-American ship, initially unnamed, was said to enter Portland but no word followed. The Brasilia, the other vessel involved, reached port that afternoon with lighter damage.
London publishers John Murray receive 27 500 dollars in damages after the Times accused the firm of extortion by selling letters of the late Queen Victoria at inflated prices.
