Washington March 25 The secretary of the treasury said he would accept various government and high grade bonds in substitution for United States 4 percent bonds of 1907 held to secure public deposits. Eligible issues include Philippine Porto Rican Manila District of Columbia Hawaiian state and municipal bonds and high grade railroad bonds at par or 90 percent of market value. Many such bonds will be withdrawn and reassigned to the secretary for redemption under a March 14 1907 circular.

Florence Ala March 25 Cleveland Harding a Black man attempted assault on Mrs Ben Rice near here Friday but was driven off by Mrs Rice s shepherd dog.
