President Taft cancels New York engagements for tomorrow afternoon and evening and will depart Washington Wednesday morning for Chicago direct. He will continue the rest of his trip as previously arranged, heading to a St Patrick's Day banquet in Chicago.

Chicago March 14 The condemnation suits by the South Park Board against three Michigan Avenue property owners for Grant Park lake front development of the Field Museum and John Crerar Library were dismissed by Judge McSurely in the superior court. The summonses were quashed and an appeal to the supreme court was announced by park commissioners' attorneys.

Samuel Mosher, a convicted murderer sent from Tazewell county in 1901, hanged himself in his Joliet penitentiary cell today. The death ends a long prison sentence for murder.
A new Methodist Episcopal church costing $34,000 was dedicated here yesterday by Bishop W F McDowell. The outstanding indebtedness of $10,000 was raised by Rev James Rowe of Chicago. Dedicatory exercises continued through the week.
Omaha March 14 Congressman Gilbert M Hitchcock publisher of the World Herald announces his candidacy for the United States senate. W J Bryan reportedly pledged not to run if offered the nomination while Elmer J Burkett is the current senator whose position Hitchcock desires.
Kansas City reports Jere Lillis and J P Cudahy resign from an exclusive Kansas City country club amid the Cudahy home attack incident. Lillis plans to travel abroad while Taft returns from Pittsburg funeral of his brother-in-law Thomas McK Laughlin.

In Kansas City Kansas an unknown black man entered Mrs. Mary Albert’s grocery and slashed her throat with a razor then robbed her of several hundred dollars and escaped. Mrs Albert is expected to die. In Washington the president named Walter I Lillie to be collector of customs for Michigan district.

The case grew from years of DOJ inquiry, with a 1996 petition in the U.S. Circuit Court for the Eastern District of Missouri seeking breakup of Standard Oil of New Jersey for antitrust violations. Four judges granted most of the government’s relief, Standard Oil appealed to the Supreme Court, and arguments opened today with John G. Milburn for the defense.
Dublin born Timothy Harrington, MP for Harbor division of Dublin, died yesterday in London. Born 1851, he graduated from Trinity College Dublin and was elected lord mayor of Dublin in 1901 with reelections in 1902 and 1903. He held public office amid his long political career.

Charles K. Hamilton, the aviator, was injured during a Meadows exhibition when his Curtiss biplane capsized in a pond. He is hospitalized with shock and head pain but no bones broken. He attempted a shallow water skim, misjudged depth, and the machine somersaulted, wreckage spreading. He swam to shore 20 feet away and collapsed.

The U S Supreme Court held the North Dakota coal rate law of 1907 constitutional despite railroads arguing it took property without due process and interfered with interstate commerce.
