Alschuler Nominated for Governor at Illinois Democratic State Convention

Springfield June 27 The Illinois Democratic state convention on the second ballot nominates Samuel Alschuler of Aurora for governor. The platform reaffirms Chicago platform, condemns McKinley administration and militarism and calls for direct election of senators and municipal ownership of franchises. Delegates to national convention instructed to vote as a unit for Bryan. Second ballot result: Alschuler 60% and Ortselfen 0%. Orendorf and Worthington receive scattered support.
