Boise June 19 The Haywood case resumes as Judge Wood weighs admissibility of magazine articles and editorials cited to link Haywood with anarchist ideas. Prosecution argues relevance to the fall 1905 conspiracies while defense contests connections to Steunenberg.
In Cincinnati last night an auto crash killed Thomas Trever and Alfred Trever, both officials of the H. and Pogue company. The chauffeur was seriously injured and may die. The car struck a telegraph pole while attempting to avoid striking a colored man.
Pinchot speaks to delegates airing grievances over federal land use regulations. Chief Forester cites Roosevelt’s timber policy while denying forest reserves raise lumber prices and defending irrigation protection as justification. He argues conservation serves national interests.

Scarnton, Pa June 19 Seven men killed outright and two others seriously injured in two mine gas explosions at the Johnson No 1 mine Priceburg. The first blast was due to door tender carelessness letting gas accumulate. the second followed ignition of fire damp after the initial blast. Of eight men in the main gangway during the second explosion only one escaped.
The general executive board of the Commercial Telegraphers union approves a strike against Western Union and Postal Telegraph. The date is left to President Small with a first move expected next week. Labor Commissioner Neil continues investigations and meets Civic Federation officers and union leaders to seek a settlement.
Leavenworth June 19 The federal jury in the case of Sam Oi Company against H T Tucker upheld the state supreme court appointment of the receiver. The verdict affirms that the receiver remains in place and Tucker's challenge fails.
Spokane dispatch reports a major wreck on the Spokane and International railroad near Spokame bridge this morning. Many headsemen were injured and several possibly fatally, with casualties likely to rise.
A torpedo boat, name unknown, was sunk off Tor Bay Head this afternoon after an explosion aboard. The British gun boat Dryad rescued all crew members. In Louisville, June 1, C Vogt, resident manager of American Tobacco, shot himself, death attributed to health issues.
John Mitchell attended a large spring valley picnic in aid of St Marguerite's hospital marking his first public appearance since illness. He has been hospitalized since April 28 and will depart for Indianapolis tomorrow to assume duties as national president of the miners' union.
Washington June 19 Acting Secretary Reynolds reports a San Diego investigation found no fraud by Charleston officers in landing wines and curios seized from the U S ship Charleston. Chicago June 1 Mayor Busse appeals to Secretary Cortelyou for federal help to stop the gambling steamer City of Traverse. He calls the vessel a public nuisance and asks revocation of its license by federal authorities.
Jamestown Exposition directors accept Gov. Cottrell’s resignation and name James M. Barr as director general with full powers. They endorse a 700100 dollar bond issue to cover liabilities. Also reports a circus accident in Des Moines where performer Eje Minerva, real name Mrs. William Davis of Freeport Ll, suffers a probable fatal injury on the flying trapeze.
John F. Rosenheimer, a wealthy needle manufacturer, was killed on his Pella estate during an evening stroll with his wife. Two men fled the scene as Mrs. Rosenheimer fainted and son-in-law James Fl. Curnon raced from the house. Authorities consider revenge or burglary possible motives amid recent employee layoffs.
In Trenton New Jersey on June 19 the governor sent a formal letter requesting Secretary Dickinson resign from office. The contents of the letter were not disclosed. Stokes today.
Mrs Anna Waza of South Mock Island was declared sane by a county court jury after an inquest into her mental state. The 76 year old woman’s daughter Mrs ry Koch sought placement in the county infirmary. Six jurors and multiple witnesses weighed testimony before Judge Olmsted.
The treasury department reports Cade George R. Ramel drowned after falling overboard from the quarterdeck rail of the revenue cutter Chi near Yorktown Virginia on June 17. Captain Reynolds commands the vessel.

The Irene a 33 foot gasoline launch owned by former Fire Chief Tubbs of Rock Island tied up at the Anchor dock at Hamilton street yesterday morning. Tubbs with his wife and a companion observed on the boat which has a 15 horsepower Lamb engine and a speed around nine miles per hour. Tubbs returned to Rock Island yesterday afternoon and will return tomorrow.
The Tri City Social Service club met at the Y M C A with about forty attendees. F J Sessions of Davenport Seers Orphan home spoke on Social Service, aided by talks from Humane Officer Elman and Judge Olmsted. Plans discussed for a September public meeting featuring W L Bodine on compulsory education law.
Passengers from Rock Island and Davenport may take an early morning boat trip to Clinton with return via the interurban. The Diamond Jo Line, through W H Lamont, arranged with L and I officials for round trip at interurban rates. The Sidney steamer will arrive next Friday at 7 o clock.
