Plain American Becomes Preferred Suitor Over Titles
In a playful exchange a foreign suitor asks why the heiress favors the plain American over a titled rival. She replies that the American’s advantage lies in his ability to endure an examination by a guarantee and trust company, a test her suitor’s titles cannot undergo.
How He Got It Overcoat Tip Story
A quip about betting on a horse race ends with choosing an overcoat over a profit. The exchange shows a gambler’s hope and a pragmatic decision. The tale implies luck failed a tip, shifting emphasis to practical warmth and value.
