River continues to rise steadily and will probably be out of its banks in 24 hours. Hundreds of families at Armourdale and Argentine moved to higher places today. Merchants along the West Bottoms at Kansas City are preparing for emergencies by moving their stock to safe quarters.
Chicago June 8 The Republican National Committee adjourned amid a dangerous partition collapse as Taft aligned delegates won Florida Georgia and Kentucky contests with some allied groups bolstering their position despite Hitchcock’s withdrawal. Memorial services followed for Woodmen and Royal Neighbors with multiple camps and a Reynolds unit conducting exercises in poor weather.
Police in Lisbon on June 8 thwart a large plot by the Society of the Black Cross to bomb members of the royal family at a religious feast planned for June 18. The ring includes three notorious anarchists.
The Island City Boating Association called off yesterday’s planned cruise due to threatening weather as launches prepared to leave the harbor. A near future picnic and cruise are planned. A June tornado outbreak across southern Nebraska northern Kansas and neighboring states left seventeen dead five fatally injured and many more hurt. Byron and Courtland were cut off by damaged lines while Carleton Geneva Fairfield and Charles City suffered extensive destruction including homes churches and farms. In Mauston Wisconsin a tornado hit the Dalton farm killing John Dalton and his 12 year old son Philip.
Chicago packers say canned meats will rise 1 to 2 cents per pound due to cattle shortage. Belmont, Hempstead reports Oliver Belmont ill with appendicitis and his recovery hope appears distant.
Washington June 8 The administration and Taft approve of Frank Hitchcock methods with Chicago contesting delegations and a Taft telegram directs no change Roosevelt shows satisfaction at the work. The president and Taft deem the protesters as opponents who would have eliminated Roosevelt influence if the tables were turned.

A telegram from MinnesotaProhibitionists warns the movement will advance against the saloon as the state convention pledges opposition.
Moline residents conducted a tag day Saturday with the ladies in charge on the streets early. Tags sold for various amounts, producing $700 in total. Several large local manufacturers bought $100 worth of tags. The event, despite poor weather, fell short of Rock Island totals by about $160. Contributions in Rock Island were more widespread with no single gift exceeding $5.
Springfield Illinois June Herman Billik, convicted at Chicago on poisoning members of the Vezral family, must forfeit his life Friday as punishment. The pardon board and Governor Deneen refused to modify the sentence.
Militia units under Colonel W T Channon of the 6th regiment are ordered to travel to the annual encampment at Springfield. The local company with Company F Moline and Company B Geneseo will depart Saturday night by Rock Island to Peoria and then move to Camp Lincoln on the Chicago and Alton line, arriving early Sunday. A week at the capital follows before returning by the same route.

Anna Hause has eleven years of perfect attendance, Edwin Hause missed one day in nine years, Arthur Hause finished eighth grade with a half day absent, and Harland Herbert completed his ninth year without absence or tardiness alongside Kale and other Kale family pupils.

Afternoon program at 2 30 features devotional by Rev J H Wilson round table talk by Mr Hunt music and an address Life s Best Choice by Rev F A Smiley with roll call and business. An intermission offers a light supper for those staying for the evening program.
