Cairo Alabama June 6 A B Bankston former Pulaski County sheriff was acquitted by a jury in Jonesboro Illinois of the December murder charge in the death of policeman Willford French.

Chicago June 6 annual meeting of the National Wholesale Liquor Dealers association opened with addresses urging uplift of the saloon through regulation and licensing. President Westheimer of Cincinnati opposed statutory prohibition but favored building sentiment for license control. Other speakers followed the same line.
Baltimore figures led by President Taft and ex President Roosevelt gathered for a civic demonstration honoring Cardinal Gibbons on the 25th anniversary of his elevation. Notables from several nations spoke as crowds listened to the commemorative proceedings.

Washington June 6 Dillingham introduced in the senate a resolution to reinvestigate charges against Senator Lorimer. Culberson blocked immediate action demanding time to study changes from the original. The special committee would examine the famous Jackpot in relation to Lorimer's election.
Refugees report 28 Magonistas allied with Mexican liberals opposing Madero were summarily executed in the Altar district near Campania nha Altar after capture in a skirmish with casualties on both sides. The provisional government brands Magonistas as bandits and says captured outlaws will be killed.
Springfield reports Governor Deneen signed measures giving Illinois cities and villages power to prohibit fireworks and regulate related nuisances. The law, effective July 1, also authorizes condemnation of waterfront lands for beaches and directs zoning of stables hospitals and other facilities. Additional bills address stallion certificates, appellate reports pricing, factory inspector roles, basement wheel restrictions, state game department funding, and high school district creation across townships.
