Rebels and bombers strike across London as German air raiders fly over the capital. Fires ignite after incendiaries, civilians perish, and police struggle to contain disturbances. Reports note limited public awareness until morning and chaotic scenes along the river and city outskirts.
A shattered American steamer arrived at Septego Cal marked with bullet holes after a collision 02 miles southeast of Exsenads. Crew escaped unharmed. Authorities investigated a failed attempt to land Chinese workers amid rising tensions. Jows June 1 L Clarke agent of the Chicago Burlington and Quincy railroad at Roscoe Jows was arrested last night charged with embezzlement of 500 dollars. Clarke 20, married, attributes trouble to temptations of the city and Des Moines where most of the money was.
A British prisoner captured during the Gallipoli campaign reports that Turkish losses in the defense of the Gallipoli peninsula exceeded 40,000 men up to a fortnight ago. The figure was released in an official London statement today.
An Athens dispatch reports a British submarine cruising in front of Constantinople hindering Turkish troop movements to the Dardanelles. Separate notes mention funds for Monmouth College and Presbyterian educational grants, and the Russian bark Montrosa blown up by a mine in the North Sea near Spain.

Springfield June 1 The legislative mileage bill failed to reach the required 102 votes for final passage in the lower house though it would reimburse lawmakers $26 270 18 for railroad travel At press time a move to Postpone consideration kept the measure alive for another vote. The senate had already passed the measure as part of broader appropriation bills.
London reports confirm all officers of the British battleship Majestic were saved after the vessel sank on May 27 near Gallipoli due to a submarine attack. An earlier official note had claimed most officers and crews were saved. Protests in Atlanta seek a hearing on Leo Frank death sentence commutation following Mary Phagan's murder case linked to Marietta.
