In Paris July 22 court sessions spark an Exciting scene as Joseph Caillaux defends his wife Antoinette amid claims a German influence paid Calmette. Prosecution says documents are pretended while Caillaux praises his spouse and denounces calumnies.
Unsettled conditions tonight and Thursday with possible showers or thunderstorms and cooler temperatures. A morning reading of 75 degrees, highs near 91 yesterday, 94 at 3 pm, light winds, and no precipitation. Evening stars Venus and Mars, morning stars Saturn Jupiter Mercury, Neptune in conjunction with the Moon at 10:50 pm.

Koenig admits shooting claiming a conspiracy to ruin or kill him and says he acted when denied reinstatement of his job.
President Wilson directed Attorney General McReynolds to file a Sherman Act civil suit to dissolve the New York New Haven and Hartford Railway system. A federal grand jury will hear criminal aspects against officers and directors, including ex president Charles Mellen, as the government pursues indictments. In St. Petersburg and across Russia a general strike expanded with 200000 workers laying down tools. Armed clashes wounded police and Cossacks, trains were halted, telegraph lines cut, and traffic ran under military escort as strikes spread from Riga to Odessa and other cities.
Lawrence Robinson, charged with murdering Police Inspector Thomas Norton, killed himself last night, cutting his throat with a steel shank from a shoe. He had been confined at night in a courtroom cell during the trial for the June 19 Boylston Street arrest. Robinson, a telegrapher from Washington Courthouse Ohio, faced possible extradition to Grand Rapids for three jewelry store clerks killings. He left notes predicting death by his own action and sent a final message to his mother and wife.

London July 22 Representatives of liberals conservatives Irish nationalists and Ulster unionists gathered at Buckingham Palace to resume talks on the Ulster question. The king addressed the conferees praising their response and urging calm, patience, and conciliatory action toward a peaceful, honorable settlement. The discussions paused overnight as caucuses must approve any proposals.
