Sheriff Key of Willbarger County Texas left Chicago with Robert F Holloway who is accused of robbing a Harrold bank of about $5000. Holloway’s arrest revealed a confession to many robberies, but evidence shows he had nothing to do with them.
The national convention of prohibitionists is scheduled for Atlantic City on July 10. In Washington negotiations opened today between the government and Union Shoe Machinery Company to settle the anti trust suit filed against the firm.
Osaka Japan reports a second fire in the southern district after a massive blaze the previous day. The total damage reaches 15 million dollars with about 30 000 homeless housed in public buildings. Osaka, known as the Venice of the East, sits on Hondo island beside the Yodo river and is noted for canals and bamboo bridges. One life is reported lost in earlier fires. Nearby Muscatine Iowa records a man aged 70 hanged himself amid severe cold.
Denver January 17 a refined man who registered as Barney Hillman is held by police charged with forgery. Authorities say he is Harry Mann the king of hotel swindlers alias George McKloy George Haney and others. Mann is said to be wanted in up to a hundred cities across several states for forgery.

A fire destroyed the home of Charles Borth Well near Hammond Indiana today. The family escaped in their night garments. Hugh Stone, brother of Mrs. Bothwell, is missing and believed dead.
In Chicago an unidentified man shot Joseph Palermo, an Italian railroad employee, as he left his boarding house in what police label as another Black Hand murder. In New York, a separate fire at a seven story Terminal Storage warehouse caused about 1,250,000 dollars in damages.
The Socialist party of Germany wins a decisive election. Herr Bebel leads the party, regarded as a leading exponent of socialist doctrine. Sixty seven seats in the Reichstag are assured for Socialist candidates by the results.
Chicago January 17 Mrs Rene B B Morrow of 4545 South Michigan avenue held to the grand jury earlier in connection with the death of her husband Charles B Morrow shot to death December 28 on their porch was released on bonds of 40000. Three property owners joined attorney Charles Erbstein before Judge Fake and posted property valued at 65000. Mrs Morrow left Hyde Park police station half an hour later driven home in her attorney's car. Bondsmen are Patrick J Landy Joseph Schmidt and Louis Schmidt. Earlier she obtained a 2000 loan on property at 3807 South Michigan avenue with a trust deed filed yesterday naming John Chesire as trustee. The property is valued at 15000 and was deeded to Mrs Morrow by her peethee. The money raised by the loan will be used in her defense.
Miss Patty Feltz of Salt Lake City swore an affidavit in Colorado Springs claiming she was engaged to Rev. Clarence V. Richeson and lent him 700 dollars while he was a theological student. She details meetings and other doctors and ministers she spoke to in Missouri and Texas about the loan.

Rev W D McFarland former Pittsburgh educator was arrested at Cedar Creek Tennessee on accusation of performing an operation leading to the death of Elsie Dodd Coe his former secretary. He is jailed in Greene County awaiting Pittsburgh police. He faced the charge calmly and proclaimed his innocence as his wife and 16 year old daughter reacted with distress.
