Seoul reports the Korean government orders Korean troops to join Japanese forces in the field. The dispatch covers wartime actions around Port Arthur, torpedo boats with sails, and shifts in Russian command including Konopratkin delaying front-line deployment until a larger reserve is available.
New York February 27 The Republican state committee adopted resolutions endorsing Roosevelt for the presidential nomination and set the state convention date for April 20.
Manila reports the battleship Wisconsin broke a world mark with 13 inch guns as its gunners fired 10 shots in 10 minutes, claim noting vine bull's eyes achieved by expert gunners.
A 161 foot scaffold collapse at Chicago's central post office killed James Byron and endangered 35 workers. Lennox Haldeman contractors built the 150,000 foot lumber structure at a cost of 18 400. Ten days were needed for construction, and refusal to share details with newspapers led to police interference and newsroom clashes at the Adams street entrance.
In Indianapolis on December 27, seventy five non union workers at Parry Manufacturing led by Dr M Parry head of the National Manufacturers association and the National Industrial Association of America struck after a wage cut from 72 to 57 cents per piece since October with a further 2 cent proposed reduction. Workers were paid off and discharged.

A blaze in Rochester, New York destroys three of five department stores, including Sibley Lindsay & Curr, causing an estimated 3 million dollars in losses with 1.25 million in stock damage and 750 thousand in buildings. About 2,500 workers lose temporary jobs as the flames spread along Main Street from St Paul to Clinton Avenue.
Kalamazoo Michigan February 27 Benjamin Daniels aged 52 lost his life while picking up coal from railroad tracks struck by a south bound Grand Rapids and Indiana express. Portions of the body scattered over 200 feet his clothing caught in the pilot and part of the body carried along. One leg found at the Michigan Traction company's trestle half a mile away. The engineer did not know he had struck a man Daniels had lived here six years from Otsego with a daughter Mrs Horace Kinsman.
London Feb 27 The Associated Press says parliament will dissolve within six weeks and Liberals are expected to regain power. King Edward to summon Liberal leader Lord Spencer to form a cabinet. Govts majorities shrink as fiscal divisions and Navy votes expose weakness amid cross-party splits.
Madison February 27 The Wisconsin state capitol burned completely with a loss around 800000 and only partial insurance due to changes in coverage The fire likely started from a gas jet in a second floor toilet room igniting varnished ceilings Most departments were wiped out except the north end housing the supreme court and attorney general offices Fire Chief Bernard was seriously injured by smoke as he fell from a ladder Also noted was a separate bank fraud sentence for Cassier Patten seeking eight years for forging a note
In St Louis circuit court Judge Jimige Foster granted a divorce to Countess Marie R. F. Pena loz from Count Henri de Penaloza. The countess, an heiress, alleged he squandered her fortune and pursued other women. The judge lamented similar international marriage cases and urged mothers to wake up.
Chicago, Feb 27. Heavy selling by Arn interests pushed May wheat to 1.01, down 3% from last night. Short covering trimmed losses to 1% as futures closed at 1.05. July wheat showed firmer trading amid the day’s volatility.

Le Sueur Center Minnesota February 27. George Brainard president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank Montgomery has been sentenced to prison. The cashier received a concurrent sentence in the same case. Both officials faced charges related to bank irregularities and are reported to be proceeding with appeals.

Lawrenceville Alabama February 27 Democrats in the Forty-Eighth district convened and renominated Senator Robert Fowler of Elizabethtown to the state senate by acclamation. The resolutions favor J. K. Williams of Carmi for the president nomination.
Washington Feb 27 The Interstate Commerce Commission has begun an investigation into the business practices of the Illinois Central Louisville and Nashville Mobile and Ohio and Southern Railway companies. The focus is on switching charges for grain shipped from elevators in East St Louis to interstate destinations.
Madisonville Kentucky February 27 Monarch coal mines are on fire within the city limits. The cause is unknown and there is no one known to be inside the mines at the time of the blaze.
