Jefferson City Mo February 21 Governor Folk today honored a Texas requisition for H Clay Pierce who is wanted in Texas on a charge of making false affidavits.

In the Mississippi River near downtown New Orleans the French cruiser Kleber rammed and sank the American fruit steam boat NiGoma. Captain Lews of the Hugoma reported seven strapholders, mostly Japanese, drowned. the cruiser sustained minor damage.
Clarence H. Mackay, president of the Postal Telegraph Cable Company, announced that previous statements about salary increases were unauthorized. The matter was reviewed officially by the company yesterday afternoon in New York and a formal decision is pending.
Dispatches from San Salvador report an incursion by Nicaraguan troops into Honduras with heavy fighting and casualties. A separate telegram from Honduras to Mexico City claims Nicaraguan forces are repelled, killing 27 and wounding many. Provisional government proclamations were captured by Honduran troops.
In Culpepper Virginia on February 21 Philip and James Strothers brothers in law to William W. Ts were on trial for his murder. The two men reputedly killed him within hours after his marriage to their sister Viola. They plan to plead unwritten law as their defense. The case is expected to be highly sensational.

Harry Prater Judson was elected president of the University of Chicago by unanimous vote of the board of trustees. He had served as acting head for over a year after William Rainey Harper’s death, and his selection had been widely anticipated among university circles.
