In New York's financial district three highwaymen hijacked a taxicab carrying twenty five thousand dollars from the Produce Exchange bank. Messengers W F Smith and Frank Wardell were badly beaten as the robbers fled in a waiting car. chauffeur Gino Martini alerted police and Smith was hospitalized.
