The Senate adopted a resolution by a two thirds vote moving the presidential inauguration from March 4 to the last Tuesday in April. The general debate on the bill closed yesterday as the chamber prepared for amendments under the twenty minute rule.
A westbound freight train from Chicago to Omaha struck a handcar on the St Croix bridge at Hudson Wisconsin this morning. Swansen and August Johns were instantly killed, while Pred Carlen and Charles Johnsen suffered injuries. Both deceased men left families.
A heavy rainstorm swept Dunsmuir California severing six houses and delaying railroad traffic. No fatalities reported. Water and landslides affected the hillside town, with several dwellings toppled and others flooded.

In Lake Providence Louisiana a fight between J L Wilson a sawmill man and Paul Jones a leading citizen left both dead and a black man named Joe Nelson seriously wounded. Knives were used and Wilson and Jones were stabbed. the assailant remains unidentified. The incident occurred in a saloon.
A Ducktown, Tennessee telegram item reports West Stapp was killed instantly and Wilson fatally wounded by Joe Weaver at Plowman’s place near Blind Tiger. Weaver fled. Wilson likely to die. Stapp and Wilson went to secure whisky and became involved in an arrest when Gunman Plowman’s associate shot Stapp in the head and Weaver later wounded Wilson in the abdomen.
