Emil Olsen, in a drunken state, exchanged a watch for a revolver in a pawnshop and returned to his Plano home where his wife Myrtle cooked supper for their three children. He shot Myrtle then killed himself after a child narrowly dodged a second bullet. Mrs. Olsen had filed for divorce two weeks earlier after alleging her husband attacked her with an ax and other weapons and secured an injunction keeping him away.

Mrs Anna Marie Stohlsnackie aged about 45 of 1611 Thirteenth street Moline collapsed near her home after a stroke of paralysis and died at City hospital.
