At a Louisville peace conference leaders of the two major parties signed an agreement. It calls for ratification of seating Goebel and Beckham, unity to secure an honest election law, and removal of state troops from Frankfort. It also pledges immunity for Republican officials and postpones minor contest actions.
London and Covington Kentucky February 6 senate and house convened in separate sessions. They passed resolutions to Goebel memory and adjourned until tomorrow. The Goebel funeral train arrived in Covington with guard of honor and a long viewing in state. The body to Frankfort tomorrow for another state viewing before Thursday funeral. Excursion trains brought thousands and business paused for the day. Maj John A Logan body arrived in Youngstown and will lie in state at St Johns Episcopal church.
During a band event in Pon Ton Me Ponce Pennsylvania native officers attempted to arrest Joseph S Bigelow Sr of Boston for leading a dog. Deputy U S Marshal Barkley escorted Bigelow to a jail searching room where an attack occurred and Angel Arisme shot Bigelow in the clutch. Bigelow survived and Arisme along with several officers were arrested.
Indianapolis Feb 6 The body of Gen Henry W Lawton, which arrived here last night, was transferred to the state capitol where it will lie in state. The general long known for military service rests in readiness for formal ceremonies to be held in his home city.
Tolalo Ohio February 6 The night press from Columbus on the Hocking Valley road ran into the rear of a freight train at Carey south of here tonight. The passenger engine was wrecked and the caboose and box cars damaged. The fireman of the passenger train is missing and the fire on the wreck is reported. Some passengers are injured but none seriously. Hospital crews from Findlay and Upper Sandusky dispatched to the scene.
