Feb 2 report states a car struck a man while Mrs Grace Wilbur, president of the Illinois Sur Association, and her husband rode in the vehicle. The man remains unconscious with a fractured shoulder and other injuries. an examination will determine further damage.
Washington February 3 Secretary Redfield ordered charges of negligence brought against Captain Osmen Berry of the Nantucket after the Nantucket collided with and sank the Monroe off Virginia coast in fog, 41 lives lost. A local inspectors board at Philadelphia will hear testimony and report. A department panel will conduct a separate inquiry into the collision.
The circuit court trial of Dr. W. C. Shoemaker versus Charles L. Lutes and William F. Bay, proprietors of the Bijou cigar store, over $5,000 damages for a fall through a trap door, went to the jury this afternoon.

George D. Perkins editor and publisher of the Sioux City Journal for 45 years died at 6 this morning after weeks of illness. He was 74 and prominent in Republicans, serving four terms in Congress from Iowa's Eleventh District. In LaCrosse, Wis., Joseph D. Hiscox, 81, hero of the New Ulm Indian massacre, died the same day.
Bud Robinson and John Cooper, both 22, were given life sentences at Fort Madison after pleading guilty to fatally shooting William Wilson during a Dalmar saloon holdup last December. The pair had earlier received 35 years in Cedar Rapids for shooting the arresting officer. William Morris, the gang’s third member, went insane and is confined at Anamosa prison.
