Danville Illinois February 1 Judge Kimbrough ruled in circuit court on City Attorney Jones who refused to answer questions about vote selling and buying. The judge promised immunity and set scope of questions.

Des Moines report says the senate passed a bill to raise legislators' per session pay from 550 to 1200 dollars. The measure, filed in February, aims to adjust compensation for service in the Iowa General Assembly.

The Interstate Commerce Commission halted freight-rate increases on fruits and vegetables from Chicago and Milwaukee to various states until June 1, citing the hikes as too radical. Louis G Parrott editor of the Waterloo Reporter died this morning of heart failure in Waterloo Iowa. His brother W W Parrott, associated with him in publishing, is a frequent visitor to Rock Island, noted in connection with the paper.
