In Tullakoma Tennessee on December 22 a five man gang broke the Coffee County Bank at Manchester, blew the safe, and stole $5000. A deputy sheriff and a policeman captured the thief with the money after a brieffight. four accomplices escaped.
James B Bellingean Alten Furniture merchant was convicted of manslaughter by a Madison county circuit court jury. The case stems from a jealous killing in Alto. Bellingean shot at his sweetheart Tallie Watson and her companion Reilly, killing Reilly and fatally wounding Watson. Attorneys filed a motion for a new trial. The report also notes unrelated local incidents including suspected cattle fraud, a fire at the state capitol, and official appointments.

At the Ockerill wharf in Antwerp a fierce clash erupted as striking dock laborers and others attacked non-unionists. A detachment of 50 policemen charged the crowd firing revolvers, wounding thirty men, ten severely. The strikers withdrew as police reinforced. further fighting was expected.
