London reports a fierce gale sweeping the English and Irish channels with boats rescuing small craft. A Belgian fishing boat foundered in the North Sea with 18 fatalities. Denver records heavy mountain snow delaying railroad traffic across southern Wyoming and Colorado.
Dr May Reid, arrested in Stoch ester N Y for repeatedly burning premises to collect insurance, lived in the city three years posing as a specialist. She rented a large residence in 1898, insured furniture for 1000, fire destroyed it three months later, building damage under 500. She fled after claiming a 500000 Paris bequest, later found untrue. A Milwaukee departure followed as police sought her husbandless.

Miss Katherine Dorr daughter of Henry Dorr of Buffalo married William Loeb Jr personal secretary to President Roosevelt at the bride’s home. Loeb has served since 1900 when Roosevelt became governor. he is a Albany high school graduate and was elected official stenographer of the assembly at 21.
Tobias Castor, longtime Burlington Railroad right of way agent in Nebraska, died on a train near Havelerk early today. Castor, 15 years with Burlington, was a national Democratic committeeman for eight years during Cleveland's administration and was prominent in politics. N W Nelson was indicted for intimidating an Allis Chalmers employee.
A blaze at a Ford City hotel on Fifth Avenue destroyed the building and sent guests and employees leaping from second and third story windows. Several injured, one man Duncan is missing and feared dead. Loss estimated at $20,000.
William Allen was hanged in the Uniontown jail this morning in front of about 1500 people. He killed Hiram McMillan last April as McMillan defended his wife from Allen’s assault.
New York December 12 directors of the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad accepted the resignation of president W G Purdy and elected William i Leeds as his successor. Purdy also resigns from the board J T L Moore to succeed him and D G Reid named to the executive committee. Separately James J Hill resigns from the Northern Pacific board of directors in New York on December 1.
W H Woods and a female companion identified as True Johnson were arrested in Omaha on a Portland hotel jewel theft linked to Alfred B Lowenthal of New York. A pawnbroker loaned $200 on a brooch matching a stolen circular, triggering police action. Portland police notified as the jewelry is traced to Omaha.
In Joliet Illinois sixteen Daughters of Rebekah tried to rescue Tillie Jones a 12 year old girl placed by her father at the Davis home. Neighbors alleged mistreatment but the father from Braceville sided with the Davises after reviewing the situation. Legal action is being considered. Meury E. Gash of Monmouth was arrested in Galesburg on embezzlement charges from Armour, held on $1000 bond, and shipped to Chicago for account examination. He allegedly married a Chicago bride Miss Kate Hartman, deserting his Monmouth family of seven, while facing further offenses and a continuing investigation into his funds shortage. Mr Hartman, once sheriff, sought answers and helped expose the bigamous marriage and double life.
