An Illinois Farmers' Institute piece explains that livestock farming though soil friendly still drains nutrients. It proposes a five year rotation with corn oats and clover timothy, and analyzes nitrogen removal and recovery. It emphasizes phosphorus and humus as key to maintaining soil productivity and warns against ruinous practices. It also advertises Chamberlains Stomach and Liver Tablets with claims of digestion aid and a 25 cent price.
