In Washington on April 7 Democratic Representative Eugene N Foss of Massachusetts was escorted by his Republican brother Representative Foss of Illinois to the speaker's desk to take the oath. The scene drew cheers from the house as the Foss family, led by their mother and with the two daughters-in-law nearby, shared in the moment.
