JaxE Kinxam was arrested by order of Governor Lawry of Mississippi in Norfolk Virginia and would be taken to Mississippi for trial. John L Sullivan, after spending a night in jail, was released on bail and will travel to Purvis Mississippi to post bond for an August 12 appearance.

Record Trembler Axtell Sets Three Year Old Pace at Cleveland
At Cleveland Ohio August 29 1899 about 10000 fans witnessed Axtell driven by C W Williams beat the three year old record with a 2 14 34 mile and a running mate. The special purse for the feat was 2500 dollars. Guy followed with a 2 10 34 mile to lower his own mark and received a silver cup as prize. The pace was methodical and the crowd roared as he logged 2 10 81 for the final time.

No Cheap Rate For G A R Encampment Rail Fare
A committee of twenty business men pressed President Miller of the St Paul road to grant a one cent a mile rate to the National encampment. Miller said no road has power to grant such a rate and unanimity is unlikely, ending the rate effort. One fare will be charged on all roads to Milwaukee for the G A R encampment.

Bold thief robs Kansas City jewelry store of diamonds
A daring burglar entered F. Altman’s Kansas City shop at 3 PM on Friday, stole $1,500 in diamonds plus five pairs of diamond earrings valued around $300 a pair, then escaped after a chase.
