The premier addressed Manitoba’s legislature and proposed changes including northern development and school unit reforms. The event in Roblin featured a dinner hosted by Holy Redeemer Parish with Mayor Giles delivering remarks and a Q and A session. The Roblin NDP president thanked attendees for their support and participation.
Mr and Mrs Orest Chick and family of Sarnia Ontario spent holidays with Mr and Mrs Henry Chick and Mr and Mrs Mike Korman of Roblin. The party drove to Calgary to see Russell Chick and family and also visited Tom Rosgen and family of Drumheller Alberta.

Mike Kapetz placed third in the second flight Gordon Keast took second in the third flight Frank Campbell finished third in the fifth flight while Arnold Yeo returned without a prize.
Wayne and Shirley Randell announce the birth of a son named Graham Donald born August 21 1969 in Prince George British Columbia. He weighed eight pounds six ounces at birth.
The Roblin Can Club report a windy day with difficult shooting and a high score of 24 by Wilf Bouvier. Walter Fowler, Brian Davis, and Al Allanson each tallied 22 hits, while few members attended and only three rounds were fired. Organizers hope for larger attendance and better sod harvest weather next Thursday.
Roblin Horticultural Society met August Sth at the Shell River Municipal office with 24 members. President Jean Van Crecht led. No trophies awarded for homegrounds due to lack of entries. Next year citizens urged to enter. Final arrangements for the Annual Flower Show. Raffle winners Dixon Reid Plant Food were Mrs. L Nernberg and Mrs. J Baumung. Next meeting at the Tummon home with slide show for provincial competition.
A sample survey by Parkland Development Corporation counts 6 357 cars over four days in mid July at Bowsman McCreary and Russell. 1 284 vehicles or 20 percent carried out of province plates. Results will be sent to Manitoba Tourism for further analysis.
Kenneth and Robert Brosinsky of Thompson Manitoba appeared in Thompson magistrate court charged with a disturbance at Roblin on June 28. They were convicted and each fined 50 dollars.
Horticultural show awards announced for asters begonia tuberous and other flowers with multiple winners including Mrs. B Britcher Mrs. Audrey Chalanchuk Mrs. H Fatteicher and several others across several categories. Varieties featured include dahlia gladiolus petunia zinnia and carnations among numerous named participants.
Soab Lake, Man. resident Stephen Tinus 28 appeared in Flin Flon magistrate's court and was remanded on a charge of attempted murder. Jules Carriere 18, of Flin Flon and San Clara, is in critical condition from a chest stab wound. Investigating RCMP say the stabbing occurred on Main Street around 12 30 a m after a fight. He will appear again in magistrate's court next Tuesday.
David Gerald Windall Catagas of the Shortdalee district was sentenced to three months in the Dauphin Correctional Institute for taking a vehicle without the owner's consent at Roblin in May 1969. He appeared before Magistrate Fred Coward of Brandon on August 13 at Roblin.
Mrs C Elliott-Makaroff reports visitors from Churchbridge Calgary and Winnipeg as well as local harvest activity. Mr and Mrs Lindsay and boys from The Pits spent the holiday weekend at home. Doctors Arnott and Hogg visited Grace Arnott in Winnipeg and O Hilderman hosted guests. L Grundy admitted to hospital with flu. school begins with new beginners. Harvest continues between showers with frost predicted for next weekend.
