Roblin Horticultural Show Best Yet
Roblin held its annual Horticultural Show in the rink on Friday August 20 with 767 entries. Vegetables were judged by Harold Boughton and flowers by Blanche Brown of Dauphin. 4H Garden Clubs showcased well and tea was served. Miss Mavis Dillin provided music with S Lebedovich. prize winners included Geo Kelso for Best Gladiolus Spike and Mrs. Sanders leading in many vegetable and floral classes.

Forage Seed Policy for Class IV Land and Erosion Control
Special emphasis on water erosion control with forage seed available to farmers on Class IV land or poorer who agree to feed this land down to forage on a semi permanent basis. Eligible fields are decided by the agricultural representative or Soils and Crops Branch with seed priced at $2.00 per acre and orders due by November 1 1965. An allotment of 1 500 acres is set for the Roblin area along with nine forage seed mixtures for soil conservation and erosion control including combinations of bromes meadow fescue alfalfa timothy and various grasses for slopes waterways and dryland pastures.

U C W Retreat Revived At Wellman Lake Camp
A church women’s group held an informal U C W Retreat at Wellman Lake U C Camp the third week of August led by Mrs O Minish and Mrs G Jamieson. The program featured Bible study prayer and discussions with themes Prayers and their Answers You and Your Faith and The Reality of Prayer. Forty one attendees from Roblin Grandview Gilbert Plains Dauphin Benito Durban Renville Swan River and Minitonas participated. An evaluation praised the retreat as worthwhile and future use as a yardstick was suggested. A Service of Consecration closed the event August 19 with an executive meeting planned for a Fall Rally date to be announced.

Make Labour Day Safe Plea From Manitoba Minister
Manitoba public utilities minister Maitland Steinkopf urged motorists to exercise care on highways during Labour Day weekend September 3 to 7. He warned that if patterns repeat, four people may die. past five years saw three, last year four. He cited causes and offered rules: allow time, don’t tailgate, let others pass, don’t hurry in heavy traffic, and avoid alcohol.

Four H Garden Clubs Highlight Big Show at Roblin
The 4 H Garden Childes from Tum mel Cromarty Deepdale Makaroff and Merridale showcased top garden produce at the joint 1965 Roblin Horticultural Show. A total of 663 entries topped the 4 H section with Margaret Thompson of Cromarty crowned Grand Champion and Linda Zimmer of Tummel named Reserve Champion. Champions included Merridale Roxie Mys hchuk and Deepdale Glenda Klemeski among others.

The Extension Service announces free courses for women in clothing foods home design and crafts. Clothing covers sewing techniques tailoring and garment options. Home design and foods teach theory and planning. Groups form with leaders to spread instruction locally.
Klemecki Couple Celebrates 40th Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs John Klemecki celebrated forty years of marriage with family and friends. A ceremony at Holy Redeemer Hall featured Rev Fr Michael Ronco and a 125 guest turkey supper and dance. The couple, married in Poland in 1925, have lived in Roblin since 1928 with local shoe repair service for 35 years.
