Hospital notes report Miss Ruth Schwaikoski leaving for Winnipeg to study at the University of Manitoba and Miss Ruth Hall enjoying a Winnipeg holiday before Minnedosa travel. Other staff return from holidays and a new hospital wing continues, while a letter from Clarence Kines thanks donors for fruit and preserves helping hospital upkeep.
Rev. G. H. Jenner of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and Manitoba Conference will speak Friday at 8 p.m. in the local church. Sunday at 10 a.m. he will preach at Bleld followed by the Lord's Supper. He will also speak at Gilverwood 3 15 p.m. and Robblin Church 7 p.m. All are welcome.
Red Cross invites local residents ages 18 to 65 to donate at the Roblin Memorial Hall clinic on October 22 from 2 to 6 pm. Volunteers help supply blood to hospitals free of charge, aiding neighbors and countrymen. Contact I L Mitchell or Allan Martin for details and registration.
Dauphin Presbytery of the United Church of Canada met at Knox United Church Roblin on October 1 and 2 with delegates from Ochre River Ethelbert Dauphin Gilbert Plains Grandview Roblin Benito Renville Swan River Minitonas Makaroff and Bowsman.
Thanksgiving services will be held at Tummel Deepdale and Roblin United Churches on Sunday October 12. Tummel hosts at 11 a.m. Deepdale at 3 p.m. and Roblin at 7 p.m.
Moss Gather By Graham N. Smith notes the first living person elected to the Manitoba Legislature was John A. Campbell elected in 1907 for Dauphin and later for Nelson. Hart Green and F. Y. Newton also sat earlier, with Haig the only one still in public life.
Marlene Lavone Chase and Cameron Roger Curle wed at Knox United Church on September 30 with Dr J Carlyle Parker officiating. The bride wore a nylon net gown and rose bouquet, with Alma Chase and Eileen Chase as bridesmaids and Lucille Rogers as maid of honor. The groom's family and Roblin residents attended, and after a reception the couple left for a Vancouver trip before settling in Roblin.
Not a drop of blood given by donors at Red Cross clinics is wasted. Whole blood not supplied to hospitals within two weeks after collection is processed into plasma. This plasma is supplied to the armed forces, used in civilian hospitals in Canada, or stockpiled in case of national emergency.
