Farm Academic Day highlights Parkland family medicine ties
Parkland Family Medicine Unit in Dauphin hosts a Farm Academic Day for University of Manitoba residents and medical students. Second year chief resident Dan Sheps notes practical farming insights aid understanding of on farm injuries, farm operations, immunizations, nutrition, and high risk obstetrics. The tour included a grain farm near Sifton, a cow calf ranch near Pine River, a health unit stop in Ethelbert, and a bee farm near Ashville, ending with Ukrainian lunch and honey facility tours. The day reinforced common ground between medicine and farming through science, hard work, and support networks.
