Mire Z Nelson announces a debate and concert in the Regal auditorium under Roblin Wil auspices. Airs F Newton leads a program featuring a concert and discussion on the 20th Century ration. Dave Ballure and Mleigh promise entertaining and educational events with standard quality.
Busy threshing machines worked as boys and girls clubs held demonstrations on Monday the 6th. Exhibits included hens, pigs, and poultry. Miss Gray spoke on club work and parental cooperation while Mr Stewart presented on pigs and calves. A full report is promised.
Basketby continues as a leading figure in actual athletics. A team of players from grades six to eleven completed two lively tournaments. In the senior grades the team captained by Te Gollin assured first place.
Mr A Stokka has improved after illness in recent days. Mr Robert Stenhouse of Winnipeg is visiting his parents in the district for vacation. Mrs Drinkwater is able to resume household duties. Mrs P Hisar’s daughter Mrs W Kelly of Roblin spent several days with her mother in town.
The night snow halted threshing in the district as Mr Finlay of Brandon, a George White machine expert, reported L. A. Chase’s outfit in first class condition. Cockerill moved his threshing gear to Postup district hoping for a strong run. Amid cash shortages, sales are slow this fall, while a generous 250 year-end review offer attracts attention. The region’s rail and grain activity grows with record loads on Sept 29 and October days at the lake head. A Hutterite colony in southern Alberta reports five-year grain production records. Auction notices in the village detail a large property sale near the council. Further sales terms and conditions follow.
Mrs. Bryan Jones has been visiting her sister Mrs. Fraser in Winnipeg this past week. Mr. Dunlop of Vancouver is visiting his brother Mr. Dunlop in the district.
